Mere Christianity-Week 1

Thanks Ed for the first installment of Mere Christianity. For those of you who weren't there we covered the introduction, preface, chapter 1, and about half chapter 2. Our stated plan for this first section of the book was to take two weeks to discuss it. However, as we occasionally do, it looks like the first section is going to go about one more week.

A few questions from the study/discussion:
  • Do you think Lewis' concept of the "natural law" is real?
  • Do you believe in a moral code that is common to and known by all people?
  • Is the concept of the natural law consistent with the Bible?
Feel free to put in your two cents by clicking on the comment link below.

If you would like to get a book for the study, Kristy and Ed will have copies available on Wednesday or you can pick one up in class next Sunday. The cost for books is $12.

We have been discussing a little get together for our class. We'd like to talk about upcoming studies, plan for the summer months, and hang out. An initial date of Feb. 18th was suggested but due to the long weekend several families will be out of town so we will need to come up with another date. Are there any suggestions?

Please note: The notes for the Prodigal Son study are linked a few posts back. If you would like to get them please do so before Friday, February 10, 2006. On that date I will remove the file so that we can start posting the notes for Mere Christianity.

If you've come here please let me know by posting a short note.

Books for sale...

Kristy Turner will be at church this Wednesday night and she will have copies of "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis ($12). This is the book we'll used as the foundation of our next Sunday School lesson. This new study will start this Sunday with a lesson by Ed so get your book soon.

The book is organized in four sections or "books". Ed will cover the first, Scott the second, and Matt the third. A little simple math reveals that there is space for volunteers. Look that last section over. If you see a title that catches your attention or a topic that you've always been interested in, consider putting together a few questions from the text or questions that you think the text doesn't cover and we'll discuss them when the time comes.

Well, that's all for now. Leave a comment to let me know that you've been here.
